"We've seen a lot of progress in screens and a lot of people now buy TVs
and computer monitors that are capable of delivering a 3D image. But
the capture devices are not yet there."
Gillett, who joined Skype in 2010 ahead of its $8.5bn takeover by
Microsoft, said currently "you have to add multiple cameras to your
computer, precisely calibrate them and point them at the right angle" to
make 3D video calls possible.
He further
added that the penetration of 3D technology would be more on
televisions and computers before eventually reaching the smartphone
market, the report added.
